Programme Highlights of This Year’s Conference

Berlin, Germany – Brain research, the financial crisis and award-winning film producer Lord Puttnam will all feature at this year’s Online Educa Berlin 2009, which is Europe’s leading conference on online education.   • In “The New Era of Corporate Learning”, Jay Cross and Charles Jennings present effective methods for workplace-learning. Both experts will initiate a series of mini-master classes with social learning experts. By introducing an “Unconference” dealing with top-of-mind issues in corporate learning, they will break up traditional conference formats. At the “Instructional Video-Fest”, the best of the best of online learning material, lectures, presentations and how-to videos will be shown. Another hot topic and format is “The Great Training Robbery” – conversations with leading thinkers about why so much time, effort and money is wasted in corporate learning and recommendations for alternative approaches and better practice.
  • E-Learning pioneer and Moodle-founder Martin Dougiamas from Australia will deliver a keynote speech at the conference and will talk about the expansion of e-learning and Open Source in the corporate sector.   • In “Remaining Competitive in an Economic Downturn“, representatives from worldwide businesses will discuss how the financial crisis can be overcome and in “Recession – An Open Door for Learning Innovation?“, experienced participants will discuss how the crisis serves as a breeding ground for technical learning innovation.
  • Information overload, distraction and biological implications of the Internet: a controversial topic that will be addressed by Dr Aric Sigman.
