[Date: 2009-06-18]
The EU-funded SICON ('Stability, identification and control in nonlinear structural dynamics') project will hold a conference on 'Nonlinear dynamics, stability, identification and control of systems and structures' from 21 to 25 September in Rome, Italy.

The SICON conference will be composed of lectures and open presentations covering some of the following topics:

  • nonlinear, phenomena-based design of mechanical and structural systems;
  • basics of nonlinear dynamics;
  • structures and energies for impacts with friction periodic steady response of complex mechanical systems using multi-level substructuring;
  • irreversible energy transfer in dynamic systems;
  • blow up, periodicity and parametric resonance in structural dynamics;
  • GBT (generalised beam theory) based buckling and post-buckling behaviour of thin walled members and frames;
  • parameter estimation and structural model updating using modal methods in the presence of nonlinearity;
  • identification of nonlinear structural dynamic characteristic from modal testing;
  • Bayesian system identification;
  • modelling and monitoring of complex nonlinear uncertain systems;
  • robust identification of stochastic models;
  • model based techniques for damage detection;
  • method of decomposition for control of nonlinear dynamical systems;
  • simultaneous energy harvesting and flutter suppression using active fibre composites;
  • control of near-grazing dynamic in vibro-impacting systems with and without friction.

This is the final event organised by the SICON project.
