Overview

The economic downturn may have presented a unique opportunity to the European states to deliver a cohesive approach to science and technology. Previous national policies could be arguably accused of not creating the environment for progressive science and innovation. However the future points to knowledge transfers, science networks and developing bridges between industry, academia and public sector policy. Collaboration across the continent and diversification of research can result in a integrated European research base that leads the world in innovation and success. But how do we deliver a collaborative framework and who will drive the solutions?
