Curriculum vitae Paola Vittorioso

Paola Vittorioso, nata il 30/10/1963, si è laureata in Scienze Biologiche presso l’Università di Roma “La Sapienza”, nel 1986 (cum laude). Ha trascorso un anno (1988) all’Institut Pasteur, Parigi, “Unité de Biochemie Microbienne", lavorando su “Applicazioni biotecnologiche del B. thuringiensis israelensis nella lotta biologica alla malaria”, usufruendo di una borsa di studio dell’Institut Pasteur-Fondazione Cenci-Bolognetti. Assunta presso l’Enichem Agricoltura come ricercatore (1989), con un progetto di ricerca su “Analisi dell'interazione Azospirillum-Graminacee”. Accettate le sue dimissioni dall’Enichem (1990), ha frequentato il Corso di Dottorato in "Biologia Umana: basi molecolari e cellulari". presso i laboratori del Prof. G. Macino, Università Roma La Sapienza, ed ha conseguito il titolo di Dottore di Ricerca (1994), con la tesi “Isolamento e caratterizzazione del gene WHITE COLLAR 1 di Neurospora crassa: un elemento della via di trasduzione della luce blu". Ha vinto nel 1996 il Premio per Tesi di Dottorato della "Fondazione Institut Pasteur-Cenci Bolognetti" (Università di Roma "La Sapienza")
Ha poi effettuato un post-dottorato (1994-1997) presso i laboratori di M. Caboche, PhD, INRA-Versailles, come responsabile del progetto “Caratterizzazione fisiologica e molecolare dei mutanti pasticcino di Arabidopsis thaliana”, usufruendo di un contratto con l’Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique (INRA). Dal 1997 collabora con il Prof. P.Costantino, presso il Dipartimento di Genetica e Biologia Molecolare, Università di Roma “La Sapienza”, dal 1999 in qualità di ricercatore confermato. E’ responsabile del progetto “Analisi funzionale e molecolare di geni Dof in Arabidopsis thaliana”. E’ stata coordinatore del progetto UE “REgulatory Genes Initiative in Arabidopsis” (REGIA) (#QLRT-1999-00876; ‘99-’02). E' stata responsabile di programnmi di ricerca sia Nazionali che Internazionali. E' referee per riviste internazionali. E’ sstata rappresentante italiana presso il MASC (Multinational Arabidopsis Steering Committee) (2002-2008). E’ stata membro del Direttivo della Federazione Italiana Scienze della Vita (FISV) e della Società Italiana di Biofisica e Biologia Molecolare (SIBBM).

Ha tenuto per affidamento il Corso di “Biologia Molecolare Vegetale” del corso di Laurea in Biotecnologie (6 anni), quello di “Analisi Strutturale e Funzionale dei Genomi” (2+2 CFU) (5 anni), e quello di “Ingegneria Genetica” (3CFU) (3 anni) del corso di Laurea in Scienze Biologiche. Attualmente è titolare del Corso di “Metodologie del DNA Ricombinante” (6CFU) del corso di Laurea in Scienze Biologiche. E’ stata relatore di trenta tesi in Scienze Biologiche e Biotecnologie, e docente guida di due dottorandi. E’ membro del Consiglio didattico-scientifico e docente del Master di I livello “Le scienze della vita nel giornalismo e nei rapporti politico-istituzionali” (SGP). E’ membro del Comitato Scientifico del Dottorato in Scienze Pasteuriane. E’ stata membro del Comitato Promotore-Organizzatore dell’”OPEN LAB: Corso teorico-pratico su ricerche genetico-molecolari destinato ad operatori dei mass media” (ottobre 2004), svolto presso il Dipartimento di Genetica e Biologia Molecolare, Università di Roma “La Sapienza”.

Paola Vittorioso, born the 30th October 1963, took the degree in Biology at the University of Rome La Sapienza (cum laude) (1986). She got a one-year fellowship from the “Institut Pasteur-Fondazione Cenci Bolognetti” to work at the Institut Pasteur, Paris, “Unitè de Biochemie Microbienne". Research Project: “Biotechnology applications of B.thuringiensis israelensis against malaria” (1988). She was engaged as a researcher at Enichem Agricoltura (1989). She resigned in 1990, and she attended the PhD course in “Human Biology: molecular and cellular bases” at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. She took the PhD with the thesis “Isolation and characterization of the Neurospora crassa WHITE COLLAR I gene, an element of the blue light transduction pathway”, carried out in the laboratories of Prof. G. Macino, University of Rome “La Sapienza”. She was awarded for the best PhD thesis by the “Institut Pasteur-Fondazione-Cenci Bolognetti”.
She made a post-doc at the INRA-Versailles, in the laboratories of M.Caboche, PhD, working on the project “Physiological and Molecular Analysis of the pasticcino mutants of Arabidopsis thaliana (1994-1997), During the post-doc she took advantage of post-doc fellowship from the “Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique” (INRA). Since 1997 she is working at the Department of Genetics and Molecular Biology, University of Rome La Sapienza, in collaboration with Prof. P. Costantino. In 1999, she has been engaged as a researcher in the same Department, and she is responsible of the project “Functional and molecular analysis of the Dof genes in Arabidopsis thaliana“. She has been coordinator of the UE “REgulatory Genes Initiative in Arabidopsis” (REGIA) (#QLRT-1999-00876; ‘99-’02). She has been Italian Representative of the MASC (Multinational Arabidopsis Steering Committee) (2002-2008). She has been member of the Committee of the SIBBM (Italian Society of Biophysics and Molecular Biology) (2002-2006), and secretary-treasurer of the Society. She has been member of the Committee of the “Italian Federation of Life Sciences” (FISV) (2003-2006). She has been University Lecturer of the following courses at the University of Rome: “Molecular Biology of Plants” (3 Credits Forming Units; Biotechnology,); “Structural and Functional Genomics” (1 CFU; Biotechnology Genomics); Structural and Functional Analysis of Genomes” (2+2 CFU; Biology) and “Genetic Engineering” (3CFU; Biology). At present she is University Lecturer of “Recombinant DNA technologies” (6 CFU; Biology). She has been tutor of thirty “laurea thesis” and two PhD thesis. She is member of the Scientific Committee and Lecturer of the I level Master “Le scienze della vita nel giornalismo e nei rapporti politico-istituzionali” (SGP). She is member of the Scientific Committee of the PhD Course in “Pasteurian Sciences”.
She has been member of the Organizing Committee of the OPEN LAB: theoretical and practical course in genetic-molecular researches for mass media operators” (October 2004), which took place at the University of Rome, Department of Genetics and Molecular Biology.
