The main purpose of the present work is to review some dynamical properties of trehalose-water mixtures to highlight the role played by the sugar in the modification of the harmonic, anharmonic and diffusive behaviour of pure water in order to get some insight into the molecular mechanisms of bioprotection that characterize trehalose.

Protagonists of a new scientific era, stem cells are promising tools on which the Regenerative Medicine relies for the treatment of human pathologies. Stem cells are already leaving the bench and reaching the bedside, despite an incomplete knowledge of the control programs driving their fate. Critical issues need to be further addressed, including the long-term safety, tolerability and efficacy of cell-based treatments, as well as their carcinogenic potential.
