Research activity:
Sector: Cognitive neuroscience.
Sub-sector: Cognitive Electrophysiology.
Visual evoked potentials (VEPs). Event-related potentials (ERPs). Mechanisms of spatial and non-spatial attention in humans. Mechanisms subserving visual information processing (color, spatial frequency, check size, orientation, shape, spatial location). Neurofunctional bases of linguistic processing (graphemic, phonologic, semantic and syntactic aspects) in monolinguals, polyglots and simultaneous interpreters. Category-related effects (living/non living, abstract/concrete dimension). Hemispheric asymmetries for attentional (global Vs. local) and perceptual (magno- Vs. parvocellular) visual processing. Face processing. Gender differences in the affective response to IAPS images and faces. Mirror neurons and action comprehension. Neural bases of empathy for pain.
Sub-sector: Cognitive Neuropsychology.
Visuo-motor coordination in normal subjects and commissurotomized patients.
Role of dorsolateral prefrontal cortex and anterior cingulate in action monitoring and suppression of irrelevant informations.
